As you might be coming to expect Sunday’s venue for the walk changed at the last minute.
After looking at the weather forecast and other considerations there were only 2 of us that finally decided to go – Bill and John. We met in Perth and drove to the Birks in Aberfeldy and since we couldn’t find anyone else waiting we decided to have a go at the alternative that had been discussed – Meall Buidhe at the end of Glen Lyon.
The weather wasn’t looking brilliant but, ever hopeful that the forecast was accurate, we set off. The summit was covered in thick cloud and windswept (estimated 35+mph). After the obligatory summit photos we hunkered down, in what shelter there was, for lunch. We were rewarded with the cloud cover breaking up and revealing magnificent views across Rannoch Moor, Glen Lyon and away to the south. About half way down from the top our painfully cold fingers finally thawed out allowing us to appreciate the beauty of Loch an Daimh in the sunshine.
